Tissue concentrations of the reduced form of glutathione in brain, kidney and liver vary in the same relationship as the tissue Hg concentration. Brain glutathione is not influenced by PbN2O6 administration, but kidney and liver glutathione is increased. The administration of PbN2O6 which increased kidney glutathione also resulted in increased kidney Hg deposition. This provides additional evidence that glutathione concentrations in the kidney play a role in control of Hg deposition. [Mercury is a known industrial pollutant.].
