Cortisone and ACTH were previously reported to antagonize narcotic-induced analgesia, toxicity, hyperactivity in mice and catalepsy in rats, resulting in decreased pharmacological effects of the narcotic. The effect of cortisone pretreatment of rats on the disposition of a narcotic antagonist was studied. Pretreatment of male Wistar rats with cortisone (3 mg s.c. daily) for 7 days did not alter the disposition of a 5 mg/kg dose of [allyl-1',3'-14C] naloxone administered s.c.
