Prostaglandins E + A, F1 alpha and F2 alpha in the serum of 44 patients with micronodular liver cirrhosis, 16 with primary biliary cirrhosis and 10 with hepatitis were 42, 69 and 77% less than in blood of 38 healthy controls. Linoleic acid given by mouth or by vein increased prostaglandins towards normal in most patients.
