Sugarbeet yields in 3 experiments in fields with fewer than 65 Heterodera schachtii eggs/100 g of soil were not appreciably affected by nematicide treatment. In a field where preplanting samples were 65 and 208 eggs/100 g of soil, yields were increased 5.2 to 8.2 tons/ha and 7.5 to 10.4 tons/ha, respectively, following nematicide treatment. The economic threshold for H. schachtii on sugarbeets is approximately 150 eggs/100 g of soil.
