C. tropicalis was isolated from blood and synovial fluid from knee joints of 2 male children newly born. Both were successfully treated with 5-fluorocytosine and amphotericin B. In both cases, the child suffered from respiratory distress syndrome and was treated with intravenous therapy and antibiotics.
