Ancylostoma larvae have certain ecological requirements. They have greater requirements for humidity than Necator. They develop only in very humid soil, in humid tropics and in areas of highly positioned subsoil waters emerging to the surface in the zones of artificial irrigation, particularly in rice and cotton fields. In humid subtropics only Necator larvae develop. Ancylostomiasis control in the USSR by a composite method a resulted in complete eradication of Ancylostoma in coal mines in Central Asian republics and Kazakhstan, and in reduction of necatorosis as a mass disease in the Azerbaijan SSR and the RSFSR [USSR]. The incidence of human ancylostomiases is calculated in individual epidemic foci without extrapolation for the entire republic.
