The highest concentration of alkaloids was found in the roots at the start of flowering and the lowest in the stems during fruiting; the rate of alkaloid accumulation in the leaves, stems and roots generally decreased during fruit maturation. The most active stage of alkaloid biosynthesis in all organs was at the start of flowering, when the highest total alkaloid content was found.
