Uptake of polyribonucleotidies by isolated rat liver mitochondria

The uptake of poly A, tRNA and poly I:poly C was studied. As the pH increased from 6.0-6.8, the uptake of the polymers rapidly decreased; it also decreased between 6.8-7.5 but more slowly. The uptake varies with temperature and increases linearly with time and the concentration of the polymer in the incubation medium. The results obtained were discussed and compared with other observations on the uptake of polynucleotides by cells.
