Feprazone-bromhexine association was compared with bromhexine alone in a double-blind clinical trial in patients with exacerbation of chronic bronchitis. Feprazone-bromhexine and bromhexine alone improved the subjective assessment of ease of expectoration, severity of cough, dyspnea and auscultatory pathological findings. A significant improvement in pulmonary functions (FVC ) was found only in the feprazone-bromhexine treated group. The influence of antiinflammatory drugs on the bronchospasm is discussed.
