In urban and rural areas of Romania, 500 pregnant women were tested for toxoplasmosis by IFAT in order to monitor seroconversion. The post-natal development of the child was correlated with the time at which seroconversion occurred during pregnancy and the intensity of the positive response. Seroconversions were commonest during the spring. No cases of manifest congenital infection were seen in the neonates of positive mothers.
