A chloroform extract of an isolate of Streptomyces venezuelae from drinking water was inoculated intramuscularly into rats at 4 mg/day for 10 days. The general health of the animals did not seem to be adversely affected but at autopsy pathological changes were seen in the heart, kidneys, spleen and liver.
