Effect of hormonal contraception on the fibrin-stabilizing factor (factor XIII)

The plasma activity levels of factor XIII (Fibrin stabilizing factor) were measured in 27 women, 18-41 years of age, who used Non-Ovlon for 6 months. The tests were taken before, 3 months and 6 months after the beginning of Non-Ovlon use. The factor XIII activity was 1089 E FSF/ml plasma before Non-Ovlon use. It sank significantly to 970 E FSF/ml after 3 months' use, and rose to 1052 E FSF/ml after 6 months use.
