Coccidioidomycosis and tuberculosis

The case is reported of a 36-yr-old woman who had been suffering from lung disease for 17 yr. Tuberculosis was contracted in early childhood from the father. The patient had lived at the age of 10 in a region where coccidioidomycosis was endemic in California. Coccidioides spherules were observed in bronchial eluates and serological reactions were positive. Complete cure was obtained on combined treatment with antimycotics and antitubercular preparations.
