Reasons for the tenacious course of hymenolepiasis in children

Stubborn cases of hymenolepiasis usually involved the occurrence of concurrent diseases in the patients. The most common concurrent disease was enterobiasis. In a group of patients with concurrent diseases, 42.8% were cured by hymenolepiasis therapy while 96.1% of those patients without concurrent diseases were cured. Eradication of hymenolepiasis is possible only by complete sanitation of the patients.
