In a study of 80 234 faeces samples from cattle in Belgium between 1960 and 1974, Eimeria species were identified in 5.67%. The lowest infection rate was 1.8% in 1965 and the highest 15.32% in 1973. Frequency of occurrence was as follows: E. bovis (29.2%), E. cylindrica (18.4%), E. ellipsoidalis (15.9%), E. auburnensis (14.5%) and E. zuernii (12%). Other species identified were E. brasiliensis, E. bukidnonensis, and E. wyomingensis.
