Ventriculography was performed in 154 patients with angiographic evidence of coronary heart disease (high-grade stenosis or total occlusion). Functional disorders or morphologic changes were demonstrated in 81% of cases. However, vascular lesions were often found without evidence of ventricular dysfunction in patients over 50 years of age. In contrast, all patients younger than 40 years of age demonstrated abnormal ventriculograms, even when vascular pathology was limited to a single vessels.
