Single and multiple doses of caffeine were administered i.p. to rats under standard conditions and on a standard diet. Under both single and repeated doses of caffeine, plasma and adrenal corticosterone AMP levels, a substance considered an intermediary in ACTH-induced steroid formation. The increase in B levels induced by caffeine may also be due to an increase in tissue levels of cAMP.
