Ranged between 10 healthy men 20 to 25 years old, the body surface area was 1.52 to 1.78 m2, plasma volume 2355 to 2784, mean 2486 ml or 1427 to 1588, mean 1526 ml/m2, whole body haematocrit 38.9 to 45.5, mean 42.6%, total blood volume (plasma volume/1- haematocrit) 2393 to 4677, mean 4334 ml or 2496 to 2913, mean 2663 ml/m2 and red cell volume 1674 to 2015, mean 1848 ml or 996 to 1326, mean 1138 ml/m2.
