Hematopoiesis in acute opisthorchiasis according to the data of complex morphological study of the bone marrow

Examination of blood from 47 patients with acute and superinvasive opisthorchiasis and parallel examination in 23 of smears and histological sections from trepanobiopsy of the bone marrow revealed leukemoid reactions of the eosinophilic type, focal myelopoiesis, normal bone marrow indices of neutrophils, eosinophils, and erythronormoblasts, hyperplasia of granulocyte with transition to more frequent differentiation of myeloblasts into eosinophils. In most patients, development of the foci of serous interstitial myelitis was found. The changes in hemopoiesis are considered to be an allergic reaction peculiar to acute opisthorchiasis and superinvasion in chronic helminthosis.
