A platelet aggregating factor was found in cells of 2 mouse tumors and cell free supernatants released spontaneously by mammary tumor and sarcoma cells. The factor disappeared from cells after trypsin treatment and its recovery in the cell free supernatant depended on the degree of cell trypsinization. Activity of cells regenerated during subsequent incubation by a process requiring protein synthesis. The latter, and the fact that the nondialyzable cell free material was sensitive to heat and trypsin, suggest that it is a protein or a protein complex.
