Structural adaptation to varying loads is common to both cardiac and skeletal muscle. Both muscle systems have dynamic elevating fibers and fibers with predominantly isometric functions which are distinguished by the density of fibrils and sarcoplasm content. In hypertrophy and regulatory dilatation of the heart in sports, there is a functional and structural interchange.
