Muscid flies on cattle

In 1976, flies were collected from cattle in Ayrshire, Scotland, to determine if they were infected with the causative agents of summer mastitis or infectious kerato-conjunctivitis (New Forest disease). Haematobosca stimulans (Mg.), Hydrotaea irritans (Fall.), Morellia simplex Lw. and Polietes lardaria (F.) were found, but neither of the causative agents was demonstrated.
