Blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides were estimated in 32 diabetic Ugandan subjects, 15 women and 17 men on average 43 years old, after fasting for at least 14 h. Blood sugar was generally lower and triglycerides higher in patients given tolbutamide than in those on soluble or lente insulin preparations. Of the 32 patients 11 were obese and of those 9 had hyperlipaemia; of the 21 nonobese only 3 had hyperlipaemia.
