Relationship between Z-potential of the erythrocytes and the degree of their aggregation in hypertension and ischemic heart disease

An attempt was made to find a correlational link between the level of erythrocyte Z-potential and the degree of aggregation and to study the effect of heparin and rheopolyglucin in 20 healthy persons and 86 patients with hypertension or ischemic heart disease with stenocardia in various stages. Reduction of the level of Z-potential preceded the appearance of erthrocyte aggregation. Rheopolyglucin, as opposed to heparin, led to increase of the erythrocyte Z-potentials, indicating its possible use in the treatment of rheologic impairments in patients with ischemic heart disease.
