In a test of the effects of pressure on immunobiological reactivity, rabbits kept in a chamber for 10 days under pressure of 350 m water column in a HeO2 atmosphere manifested increases in lysozyme titer [by Micrococcus lysodeikticus assay] and the absolute phagocytic index of blood neutrophils. This was due to active adaptation to new conditions (increase in the quantity of leukocytes), while the titer of the complement, as was determined by statistical analysis, changed uncertainly, but tended toward increase. Despite the long stay of the animals in an enclosed space under high pressure in which high microbe levels built up, their immunoreactivity remained high, which is important to the prognosis of developing new media.
