Fourteen pups were each fed 800 cysts of Sarcocystis fusiformis from the oesophagus of buffaloes and were killed 3 to 25 days later. 2 pups were fed 1,200 and 2,400 cysts in repeated doses and were killed 25 days after the first dose. 3 pups were given 80 to 800 cysts and were studied for 148 days. The first sporocysts appeared in the faeces after 18 to 21 days and they continued to be shed for more than 140 days by dogs allowed to survive. On histological examination, the parasites were located mainly in the subepithelial tissues of the villi of the jejunum and upper ileum. On day 3, only macrogamonts were seen. Later the development of oocysts and sporocysts was observed. There are 6 photomicrographs.
