Distribution of dendrites in the ventral horn of the thoracic part of the spinal cord in the sagittal plane in cats

Using the Golgi method, the position and course of dendrities in the sagittal plane of the ventral horns of the spinal cord were studied in cats. The longest dendrites of motoneurons were distributed mainly in the long axis of the spinal cord, forming bundles, particularly of the neurons forming definite groups in the motor nuclei. Some of the neurons of these groups send dendrites in the dorsal direction to the VIIth layer. The motor nuclei also received dendrites from other cell groups, especially those lying in close proximity. The physiology of some of the cells of the ventral horns was discussed.
