Artificial immunization of volunteers with allogeneic leukocytes for the purpose of obtaining anti-HL-A sera

A method for producing HLA-sera of desired specificity in humans was presented. Leukocyte donors were of both sexes. Recipients were males between the ages of 22-36 yr of age. Most donors and recipients were of a single group (according to the ABO and Rh system). In 4 cases, different leukocyte groups were used for immunization. Serological analyses showed that actual specificity corresponded to the proposed specificity. Some absences of immune responses to certain antigens were noted. Cross reactions with some antigens were observed. Data showed a high effectiveness of producing HLA-sera through artificial immunization of donors.
