The case is presented of a 31-yr-old man with sclerosing mediastinitis caused by Aspergillus sp. which invaded the superior vena cava and both atria and subsequently spread to the brain producing cerebral abscesses. There was no predisposing factor for mycosis and it is unclear whether the sclerosis represented an unusual response of the host, or whether it was caused by an uncommon A. sp.
