Cryptosporidium is an enteric coccidian parasite that was identified in a wide range of vertebrates. 400 random stool samples obtained from 188 children (1-12 years) and 212 adults (over 18 years) were collected from different sectors of Cairo governorate, and examined parasitologically for the detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts. None were detected in any of the samples examined. Evidence of other intestinal parasitic infections indicated a total rate of 41.8%, being higher among children (54.8%) than adults (30.2%).
