Primary pulmonary neoplasms--a histopathologic study

Cases [136] of pulmonary tumors were analyzed. The incidence of lung cancer at autopsy was 1.85%. Histologically in order of frequency, the most common cell type was epidermoid carcinoma (40.4%), small cell anaplastic carcinoma (21.3%) and adenocarcinoma (16.9%). Among other cell types large cell carcinoma was diagnosed in 6 patients (4.5%), carcinoids in 4 cases (2.9%) and adenoid cystic carcinomas in 3 cases (2.2%).
