A study was made of the effect in vitro of the mycotoxin of Fusarium sporotrichella v. sporotrichioides [F. sporotrichioides] on the total and non-sedimentable activity of 13 organello-specific enzymes of the liver, kidneys, spleen and bone marrow of rats. A marked organo- and organello-tropicity was found in the effect of sporofusarin. The toxin produced a sharp increase in the activity mainly of lysosome enzymes and a breakdown in the stability of lysosomal membranes, chiefly in the spleen and bone marrow.
