The fauna of gamasid mites of great gerbils in sands of submountain plains of Kopel-dag [Turkmen SSR, USSR] includes few species. Most numerous are Hirstionyssus meridianus, Haemolaelaps longipes and H. angustiscutis, specific parasites of gerbils. Of greatest interest is H. meridianus, the density and age composition of which vary with the season.
