Plasma Cu values fluctuated randomly but remained well within normal limits over a period of 9 weeks in six zebu cows with experimental T. vivax and five with experimental T. congolense infection. As serum Fe has also been shown not to fall in experimental T. vivax infection in cattle, it is concluded that neither Fe nor Cu deficiencies play a significant role in the pathogenesis of the anaemia of bovine trypanosomiasis.
