In Nigeria, 20 patients with liver abscess due to Entamoeba histolytica were treated with 2 g tinidazole/day for 3 days. Clinical cure was achieved in 18 cases. Side effects were mild. The other 2 patients had intrapleural rupture and required aspiration and a course of emetine.
