Humoral antibodies were determined by cell agglutination (CAG) and passive haemagglutination (HAG) in 278 persons without clinical evidence of a yeast mycosis, and in 214 patients with Candida infection of the skin, nails or mucous membrane. The upper norm range from HAG was 1:40 and for CAG 1:80. For HAG the mean titre for the group of patients was 1:71, for CAG 1:173. Particularly high mean titres (1:128-1:192) were obtained when yeasts were found in the sputum, bronchi, oesophagus and intertriginous areas.
