A rare case of persistent ductus venosus was observed during a study of the hepatic venous system in the body of an 18 yr old man. The 5 cm long venous duct was patent from its orifice in the wall of the inferior vena cava to the wall of the left branch of the portal vein, where the communication of the duct with the lumen of the portal vein was obliterated.
