The serological cross-reactions between different species of the Brucella and Y. enterocolitica O-group V (formerly serotype 0-9) seriously complicate the serodiagnostic work associated with brucellosis and yersiniosis. These cross-reactions make serological differential diagnosis impossible by routine serology, i.e., agglutination and complement fixation. Electroimmunoassay is investigated as a differential diagnostic method for cross-reacting antibodies of B. abortus and Y. enterocolitica O-group V.
