Comparative evaluation of the effectiveness of peroral treatment of patients with chronic posthemorrhagic anemia with iron-containing preparations

For 5 years a series of Fe-containing preparations were used to treat 108 patients with Fe-deficiency anaemia. Criteria for effectiveness of treatment were the time taken by blood Hb to return to normal (11.5 g/100 ml), the daily rate of increase in blood Hb to and erthyrocyte count. The best results were with the Yugoslav glycine and ferrous sulphate preparation orferon. Complications occurred with resoferon Geigy, Switzerland). Daily increase in Hb and erythrocyte count were better criteria for healing than the time to attain normal Hb.
