Comparative histological investigation of receptor structures in aortic wall of some vertebrate representatives

The distribution, location and specific character of receptor elements in the aortic wall of some representatives of vertebrates was investigated. The tissue specimens were impregnated with Os-Zn-I2 solution and AgNO3. The material was cut with a freezing microtome into sections 20-30 .mu.m thick. Receptor elements were present in the aortic wall in all vertebrates investigated (Cyprinus carpio, Rana fusca, Testudo graeca, Gallus domesticus and Oryctolagus cuniculus). Local and regional differences in distribution and type of receptor elements were observed, which may be referred to the peculiarities of hemodynamics of the various anatomical portions.
