The amount of .alpha.1 antitrypsin in serum can be expressed as the trypsin inhibitory activity (TI) of serum. The titer of TI was determined by an inhibition test of trypsin-caseinolysis reaction by the test serum. Most pregnant patients in various weeks of gestation showed higher titers than normal, ranging from 400-700, but all sera of the inevitable abortion were in a normal range; all of the patients with cancer of the uterine cervix were also in a normal range. Chorionic neoplasia showed high titers ranging from 700-1600. The high titers turned to normal after operation.
