Immediate resolutive effect of neomycin in a case of pharyngitis caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistant to polymyxin B

The onset of pharyngitis with high fever was observed in a child under tetracyclin treatment for viral meningoencephalopathy. In vitro experiments showed that the causative organism, a Pseudomonas aeruginosa, was resistant to polymixin but was sensitive to neomycin. Local treatment with neomycin was immediately effective and quickly and lastingly controlled the febrile reaction.
