In pot experiments, 8 crop species including maize cv. Cross Bantam, Phaseolus vulgaris cv. Vanguard and barley were grown in soil amended with Na125I and NaI to give 5-15 ppm I. The 125I content of leaves generally increased with age, but root crops showed no clear trends and maize and barley accumulated less than most dicotyledons. There was no apparent correlation between water use and 125I content of shoots.
