Increase in the population density of wild pigeons in Odessa [Ukrainian SSR, USSR] resulted in dissemination of their ectoparasites, Dermanyssus gallinae, Argas reflexus and A. vulgaris ticks. From 1955-1972 attacks of these ticks on man were recorded in 82 foci. A tick eradication system was developed including acaricidal treatment and pigeon nest removal.
