Incubation of Ascaris lumbricoides in medium containing 0.2% piperazine showed that levels of phospholipids (particularly lecithin and cephalin) were decreased by the anthelmintic. Phospholipose C activity was stimulated by 30% and choline kinase was inhibited by 10%, indicating that the observed decrease in phospholipid levels may be due to increased degradation and decreased synthesis.
