The mean height of 622 primigravidae in Dar es Salaam was 148.5 cm whereas that of the 21 women who required caesarean section for cephalopelvic disproportion was only 141 cm. A definite relation between maternal height and disproportion was shown and the value of maternal height as a screening test is discussed.
