Variations of the arterial supply of the duodenum and the pancreas in the domestic cat (Felis domestica brisson)

Twenty-six cats were dissected but in no case did the cranial pancreaticoduodenal artery supply the whole descending duodenum. In 80% it supplied the cranial half and in 20% only the cranial third of the descending duodenum. In 48% of cases the caudal pancreaticoduodenal artery was the first branch of the cranial mesenteric artery and in the rest it was the second or third branch of the cranial mesenteric artery.
