A change of the concentration of available carbon compounds in the reaction medium affecting the carbon to sulphur ratio (C/S) affects the reduction degree of sulphates. The time interval between the initial and the log phase of the process (to) also varies depending on the concentration of carbon compounds. It was demonstrated that optimal reduction conditions for the strain Desulfovibrio desulphuricans used exist in media of C/S = 1.84 +/- 0.2. Kinetic data for the reduction process are presented.
