Plasma inorganic phosphate incorporation into inorganic and organic acid-soluble phosphate fractions of the rat sciatic nerve increases markedly during Wallerian degeneration. Administration of cycloheximide and actinomycin D remains without effect on this specific increase which appears thus independent of cytoplasmic protein neosynthesis.
