Acral melanoma in Puerto Ricans

Acral melanomas constitute a significant proportion of those melanomas that occur in dark-skinned individuals. Melanoma on these locations account for 66-70% of all melanomas in blacks, 49% in Japanese, 20% in Hispanics and 2-13% in Caucasians. These observations seem to be true for acral melanoma in Puerto Ricans.
